NATURE and arts came together at The Park at Sentul West, Kuala Lumpur last Saturday.
Sentul Raya Sdn Bhd, a YTL Land & Development Berhad subsidiary and developer of The Maple at Sentul West, presented a performance by RiverGrass Dance Academy entitled "Pebbles". It was the first in a series of outdoor gatherings at the park for residents.
The event was to show how a green lung in the city could inspire a new way of living for Kuala Lumpur folk.
More than 150 homeowners turned up for the gathering, which started with games and other activities such as face-painting, football and a frisbee session.
They later settled down on mats laid out on the ground to watch the show.
Thirty-two RiverGrass students, led by the academy’s artistic director Mew Chang Tsing, showcased performances which combined traditional elements with the f1owing contemporary forms, resulting in an eclectic fusion of dance that held the audience spellbound.
A children’s group also presented an interactive dance featuring "shadowing" and "mirroring" techniques.
YTL Corporation Berhad deputy managing director Datuk Yeoh Seok Kian said by bringing The Maple residents together through such activities, YTL hoped to reintroduce community-style living, where neighbours need not be strangers.
Designed on a concept of “Your Park, Your Home”, The Park is visualised as m extension of each condominium dwelling that borders the sprawling the 14 ha green lung.
The park is private and exclusive to Sentul West occupants and is set to enhance their home or recreational experience through five themed areas – South Gardens, West Fields, Central Lake, East Fields and Festival Plaza.
It is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year and will cater to an estimated 4,000 homes with 20,000 people.
