Living in a high-rise doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. The Maple at Sentul West offers the best of all worlds
Lush greenery, expansive lawns, woodlands, a lake and a picturesque stream - it sounds more like a holiday resort than a condominium development. But a new private sanctuary now being developed at Sentul West, 5km from the heart of Kuala Lumpur, offers all the benefits of a resort lifestyle combined with sophisticated apartment living.
The Maple at Sentul West is the first development to be launched in Malaysia's first private gated park, The Park at Sentul West. Developed by Sentul Raya, the freehold development located in the 100-year-old railway town of Sentul, features two 30-storey towers set within a picturesque 14ha park. A private, meandering, tree-lined driveway through the park acts as the entrance to The Maple, helping make the transition from the main road to the arrival forecourt a gradual, seamless process. A three-storey lobby, which extends to include a porte cochere, adds a touch of grandeur to each tower block, while the design of the towers and the interiors reflect both contemporary and tropical influences. There is extensive use of glass throughout The Maple, giving the exterior a modern perspective, so the walls become views. Large floor-to-ceiling windows seamlessly merge the indoors and outdoors, framing views of the park and city skyline. Residents can also take advantage of Sky Terraces, large, individual balconies that allow the living space to be extended outdoors.
All 318 units at The Maple have three bedrooms and an additional utility room, with three different sized units: 158m2, 146m2 and 143m2. Both towers are designed to ensure that the six units on each floor are on corners, with generous living spaces and privacy. Residents will also have the convenience of two covered carpark bays, with strata titles that come with each unit.
Each apartment has a contemporary influence, which is evident in the selection of materials such as ceramic and mosaic tiles and timber shelving. The kitchens are designed to allow residents to enjoy the view while preparing meals. They are also designed for easy entertaining. Similarly, the dining room allows guests to enjoy the spectacular views while seated at the table. Timber flooring in the master bedroom provides another contemporary accent. Along with the tall windows that invite the outdoors in, the wood floors enhance the natural ambience of the bedrooms.
Dato' Yeoh Seok Kian, the deputy managing director of YTL Corporation, the parent company of Sentul Raya, says residents at The Maple will wake to the sounds of nature, in a setting that feels a long way from the rush of the city. To provide peace of mind, a state-of-the-art security system is in place and includes panic buttons, intercom lines and closed-circuit television. In addition, infrared fencing surrounds the development, which helps to ensure a safe environment for residents.
Resort-style facilities on hand at The Maple include a 25m-long infinity-edge lap pool with Jacuzzi, a children's pool and play area, two squash and tennis courts and a basketball court. The complex also offers a gymnasium, a clubhouse, a t'ai chi court and four themed gardens that comprise a hard court for roller blading, a kitchen garden, a meditative garden and a water garden. Life at The Maple also comes with lifetime access to The Park at Sentul West that allows the residents to enjoy its numerous outdoor attractions, which include boating, camping, outdoor movies and concerts. The picturesque setting is also ideal for outdoor weddings.
The park landscape was designed by SekSan Design as a series of outdoor rooms, which include a woodlands area, several fields, lawns and lakes. The environment has been kept as natural-looking as possible, following a gardening theme common in England in the 18th century, as the landscaping plan avoids formality and artificiality, providing instead a relaxed, tranquil sanctuary. Dato' Yeoh Seok Kian says The Maple at Sentul West is an unprecedented development in the city. "Where else in Kuala Lumpur can homebuyers find serenity, lush greenery and lifetime access to a 14ha park, all immediately accessible from the front door?" he says.
"Discerning homeowners appreciate and understand the importance of having a park they can also call home. This follows examples set in London and New York where the values of properties overlooking Hyde Park and Central Park have soared in recent years. We expect homeowners investing in The Maple to experience similar capital gains."
Other benefits of the location include its close proximity to transport facilities. As well as existing rail networks, there are new rail lines and highways nearby due to be completed in the next three years.
